Safety responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1.) Identifies and appraises conditions which could produce accidents and financial losses and evaluates potential extent of injuries resulting from accidents.
2.) Conducts periodic inspections of company location and or facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, and recommends corrective or preventive measures where necessary.
3.) Compiles statistical information regarding occupational injuries, accidents, illnesses, and related expenses. Analyze and interprets information to develop and justify procedures, programs, and policies designed to reduce occupational injuries, accidents, illnesses, and related expenses.
4.) Maintains safety policies, procedures, and practices to be followed by company employees.
5.) Participates in the investigation of accidents and injuries, in the gathering of evidence and/or material and in the preparation of reports for company use in hearings, lawsuits, insurance company or governmental regulatory agency investigations.
6.) Assists with design & construction and installation of guards or other protective devices for machinery, processes, and/or facilities.
7.) Assists operational management and any other employee in applying policies and procedures required for the safe start-up of projects (e.g., emergency phone numbers, medical treatment
locations, etc.).
8.) Develops, revises or procures training materials and programs to ensure that all employees are adequately instructed in safety and health techniques for performing their jobs.
9.) Evaluates the security measures in effect and recommends changes as necessary. provides guidance in special security investigations and surveillance applications as necessary.
10.) Serves as a technical resource to all levels of management in the fields of industrial and environmental health and safety.
11.) Develops and maintains a network of relationships at all locations to ensure that all levels of supervision are adequately equipped and trained to perform their tasks and fulfill their responsibilities relative to safety, health, fire, environmental and security.
12.) Exercise the authority to stop work immediately in cases of imminent danger or other safety violations warranting such action; removes any improper or defective equipment.
13.)Conducts or directs tests of the working area for noise, toxic and other health hazards and makes recommendations for corrective action.
14.) Responsible for implementing and monitoring of the Company’s “Light/Restricted Duty Program”and assuring that all responsible parties are following correct process and procedures.
15.) Performs related duties as assigned.
Training responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1.Designs, plans, and implements safety training programs, policies, and procedures. Researches new training techniques and suggests enhancements to existing safety training programs.
2. Plans, coordinates and directs all safety training programs for the district. Implements district- wide safety training programs in coordination with the Director of Safety.
3. Formulates safety training objectives for the district.
4. Interacts with employees at all levels in the district to define safety training needs and to determine the effectiveness of training programs.
5. Develops and implements objective processes for measuring the effectiveness of training programs.
6. Works with Director of Safety to organize and develop safety training manuals, training guides, reference library, evaluation procedures, multimedia aids (including video) and other educational materials.
7. Evaluates costs and purchases training materials/programs as needed.
8. Coordinates and manages third party providers of training to the district.
9. Schedules training and works with District Managers to ensure training plans are implemented and effective for all employees.
10. Provides periodic feedback to district managers on the progress of their employees in meeting training requirements.
11. Conducts supervisory, management, and skills training for district personnel.
12. Follows up on effectiveness of programs to review appropriateness of training materials.
