This program will provide safety professionals and leaders to train employees about the hazards of silica, and the methods the employer has in place to protect employees from silica exposure. Elements of the class will include:

·        Employers must train and inform employees about silica hazards and the methods being used to limit their exposures to those hazards. This program will provide training tips, employee training materials, and guidance on effective training.

·        Methods to ensure that employees can demonstrate knowledge and understanding of hazards, tasks, control measures, the OSHA standard, and the medical surveillance program

·        Employee training materials will be in plain language, versus OSHA “compliance” language so that employees can relate to the terms and concepts

·        A variety of resources will be referenced, including a training video made available by the Canadian WorkSafe BC. These resources will be via links, handouts, or embedded materials
